Tami Allen receives Harbor Achievement Award

Bainbridge Island Harbormaster Tami Allen has been recognized for outstanding achievement by the Pacific Coast Congress of Harbormasters and Port Managers, Inc., an organization of commercial and recreational marina professionals based in British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, Alaska and California.

Allen received the Harbor Achievement Award for her stewardship of the island’s Harbor Management Plan, which had her inventorying, mapping and monitoring 530 buoys around the island and organizing an anchorage area for insured and registered liveaboard vessels. The award also acknowledges Allen’s efforts to improve public education, especially around the proper disposal of derelict vessels.

Bainbridge Police Chief Matthew Hamner attended the ceremony with Allen. He said it was an honor to be there, listening to many people speak about Allen’s dedication and hard work.

“With employees like Tami, the city of Bainbridge Island stands out,” Hamner added.
