Next SWERV program: Breast cancer on the rise

All women are invited to attend Savvy Women Exchanging Relevant Views to hear Allison Dvaladze from the Division of Medical Oncology at the University of Washington give the presentation, “Breast Cancer on the Rise: The Growing Global Burden and Local Efforts to Address It.”

SWERV meets from 10:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, March 14 at Filipino American Hall.

Dvaladze will talk about the work local doctors and researchers are doing to try to reduce the differences of breast cancer outcomes worldwide.

Two-thirds of the estimated 5.8 million women who will die of breast cancer by 2025 live in poorer countries.

As Director of Global Strategy, Partnerships and Advocacy, Dvaladze supports multiple international initiatives. She will explain how they work with partners in Eastern Europe, East Africa, Southeast Asia and Latin America to overcome such barriers as sociocultural, economic, policy and workforce issues.
