New show at BPA Gallery features abstract photographs

The next exhibit at the BPA Gallery will feature a photography exhibit by Rob Wagoner.

The May show is “ABSTRACTION: Give Photo Realism a Rest.”

Wagoner comes from a 40-year career as an architect focusing on the design of public buildings. In his passion for photography, it has become important for him to see things from a different vantage, to create an alternate meaning and blur the lines of reality (abstract them) in his images.

The works featured in the upcoming exhibit chart the outcome of his creative journey. Using light, texture, contrast, scale, cropping, and point of view, Wagoner seeks to stretch the observer’s perspective, and he hopes his images will inspire viewers to see the world in a somewhat different light.

The show opens during the First Friday Art Walk with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 3.

The BPA Gallery showcases regional artists in monthly rotating exhibits in the C. Keith Birkenfeld Lobby; gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, plus one hour prior to each performance.

Admission is free, and information is available at www.bainbridgeperformingarts.org and phone at 206-842-8569.
