Movie buffs gather to watch John Huston classic

The Island Film Group will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10 at the Bainbridge Public Library.

This month’s film is “The Asphalt Jungle.”

The 1950 MGM film was directed by John Huston and stars Sterling Hayden, Louis Calhern, Jean Hagen, James Whitmore, Sam Jaffe and John McIntire, as well as Marilyn Monroe in one of her first movie roles.

The plot: A major heist goes off as planned, until bad luck and double crosses cause everything to unravel.
