Island soloist featured player in Bremerton ‘Nutcracker’

Bainbridge Islander Grace Anne Smith, 16, is a featured soloist in this year’s Peninsula Dance Theater production of “The Nutcracker.”

The West Sound Academy junior is, according to her mother, Barbi-Jo Smith, the only islander in the Bremerton-based production. She plays the Arabian soloist and also dances as part of the Snow Corp and Flower Waltz Corp.

This year marks Peninsula Dance Theater’s 45th performance of “The Nutcracker,” reportedly the longest running production in Kitsap County. It features a live orchestra as well as numerous soloist vocalists.

The Peninsula Ballet Orchestra, conducted by Alan Futterman, will accompany the production, which will take place at the Bremerton High School Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1, as well as 1 and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2.
