CRUZ Car Show: It’s the biggest one-day Kitsap event of year

PORT ORCHARD — Up to 12,000 car fanatics will descend on Port Orchard’s waterfront for The Saints Car Club’s 32st Annual CRUZ 2019 Car Show on Sunday, Aug. 11.

The CRUZ Car Show will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The event is free for those attending.

Depending on the weather, this annual event will feature up to 600 cars on display at the parking lots next to the waterfront on Sinclair Inlet. Vehicle registration begins at 7 a.m. on the morning of the car show. The registration fee is $12 per vehicle.

Roger Jensen, one of the organizers of the CRUZ show, said the event is family-focused and will include plenty of activities that are of interest to younger family members along Bay Street, as part of Fathoms O’ Fun’s “Festival by the Bay.”

Attendees can try their hand at the dunk tank, where balls can be tossed — six balls for $5 — to submerge an unlucky member of the community. Proceeds from the dunk tank event support the Fathoms O’ Fun Festival’s scholarship program.

Fathoms will also sponsor a “Battle of the Bands’ competition with ’60s-style music to be judged by spectators on Bay Street, Jensen said. The bands will play from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Winners in each car show category will be announced at a presentation by the Saints Car Club at 3 p.m. at the Waterfront Park’s gazebo and grandstand. Trophies sponsored by local businesses will be awarded in 60 different class categories.
