BPA Theatre School now enrolling winter classes

BPA Theatre School’s enrollment for winter classes is now open for students of all ages.

The offerings are varied and broken up by age and skill level.

Under the fun, clever, and insightful tutelage of Kate Drummond, students (ages 4–7) in “Creative Drama” will explore the elements of theatre and learn to use their faces, bodies, and voices to tell a story.

Drummond will also lead students in grades 1-3 as they learn two song-and-dance numbers and engage in goofy, imaginative skill-building theatre games in “Introduction to Musical Theatre.”

BPA Theatre School officials said they are thrilled to collaborate with Bainbridge Dance Center on the “Bainbridge to Broadway” series this winter. Designed for grades 2–4, students in “Bainbridge to Broadway – Musical Movie Stars” will learn the ropes of what it takes to mount a musical and gain a historical on how the movie musical evolved through the decades. In this inaugural joint venture, BDC student choreographers will work directly with BPA students.

As part of the new collaboration with Bainbridge Dance Center, students from grades 5–8 in “Bainbridge to Broadway – Magnificent Movie Machine” will bring some of their favorite stars to life on our stage: From Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers to Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone; from “Guys and Dolls” to the Muppets, and from 42nd Street to Madison Avenue North.

Students from both Bainbridge to Broadway classes will ultimately perform “The Movie Musical Machine” in the BPA Theatre School Winter Showcase on March 28 and March 29.

In BPA’s “Teen Lab: Intermediate Acting,” led by Pete Benson and Ann Wilkinson Ellis, students (ages 12 and up) will explore a variety of acting methods and styles through a series of intensive exercises, improv games, culminating in a performance of two one-act plays in a black box setting on April 19 and April 20.
