Best Bests for July 21-23 | The Bainbridge Blab

On Friday, pique your creativity by heading down the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art and participate in Art in Action. Drop in and get the creative juices flowing by joining artists as they teach participants in guided “make-and-take” art projects for all ages.

No preregistration is required and it’s a free program, with all art supplies being provided. Projects include photo collage, fabric and wire animals, kinetic sculptures, accordion books and much more. For more information and a list of classes and dates visit www.biartmuseum.org.

Now that you have an afternoon of arts and crafts under your belt, you can go ahead and call yourself an artist, and as an artist you are entitled to some wine.

Wine on the rock is set to be a fun-filled, grape-sniffing, purple-lipped good time. With seven of Bainbridge’s wineries participating in the event, each location will provide a free tasting, food and live music at each stop.

Don’t worry about calling up a friend for a ride, transportation options can be negotiated in advance via the wineries’ website at www.bainbridgewineries.com.

Tickets are $45 and can be purchased at eventbrite.com/e/wine-on-the-rock-bainbridge-island-summer-winery-event-tickets-35020823225.

Perhaps after your wine tasting on Saturday, the atmosphere inside a darkened movie theater might be rather appealing. So grab your four-legged friend and head on down to the Lynwood Theatre for the NY Dog Film Festival. Have you ever been watching a movie in a theatre and wondered what it’d be like if your dog was there with you? Neither have we… But wonder no more!

With showings at 2 and 4 p.m. visitors are encouraged to bring their well-mannered dogs to enjoy a screening of canine themed short films from around the world which illuminate the remarkable bond between dogs and people.

Tickets are $5 and all profits go to benefit the Kitsap Humane Society.

After that you’ll sure to have a story for the office when you go in on monday: “Oh yeah, Bill? you got a new lawnmower? Well I took my dog to the movies… LIKE A PERSON!”

Crushed.
