Bainbridge stargazers look at three stars

Astronomer Steve Ruhl will lead a look at the evolution of stars at the planetarium show “3 Stars: A Tale of Stellar Evolution” on Saturday, May 12 at the Edwin E. Ritchie Observatory at Battle Point Park.

The show will examine a trio of “nearby” main sequence stars to learn about red dwarf, mid-size and large stars.

The talk starts at 8 p.m. Admission is free to members of the Battle Point Astronomical Association; a $2 donation is suggested for nonmembers, $5 for families.

Beforehand, BPAstro Kids will paint by rocket and make TP Tube projectiles in “Fizz Boom POP!” with Dr. Erica Saint Clair at 4 and 5 p.m.

If the sky is clear, astronomers will be on hand with telescopes for public star gazing afterward.

The Battle Point Astronomical Association is a nonprofit amateur astronomy organization that operates the Ritchie Observatory and John H. Rudolph Planetarium in the Helix House at Battle Point Park.
