Bainbridge Performing Arts to host ‘Big Fish’ auditions

Bainbridge Performing Arts will hold auditions for the upcoming production of “Big Fish” on Saturday, Jan. 7 and Tuesday, Jan. 10.

Overflowing with heart, humor and spectacular stagecraft, “Big Fish” is a new Broadway musical featuring music and lyrics by Tony Award-nominee Andrew Lippa (“The Addams Family,” “The Wild Party”) and a new book by esteemed screenwriter John August (“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”).

BPA run dates are May 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28, with a pay-what-you-can preview May 11.

Rehearsals are March 14 through May 10: 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.

“Big Fish” includes roles for 12 to 16 men, ages 16 and up, 10 to 16 women, ages 14 and up, and one boy, age 8-12.

Those auditioning are requested to prepare a one- to two-minute monologue and 32 bars of a contemporary musical theatre piece. An accompanist will be provided but those auditioning must bring sheet music – clearly marked and in a three-ring binder. No outside accompanists or acapella singing is permitted.

Try out times are 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7 and 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10. Auditions are by appointment only, and interested parties are requested to email dhadlock@bainbridgeperformingarts.org to schedule an audition.
