Roth understands our successes and foibles | Letter to the editor

To the editor:

I am supporting Wayne Roth for Central Ward Council representative.

I share the view that our country needs more women in leadership positions with the proviso that they have the requisite credentials.

Rasham Nassar, Wayne’s opponent, has not presented such credentials. Her passion is contagious and engaging but that is not enough. Having an epiphany on sustainability while on a two-year bicycle trip, or while practicing and teaching yoga, or starting a small farm, certainly qualify as life-changing, however they do not qualify as credentials for city council responsibilities.

Wayne Roth is a long-time island resident with a notable track record of involvement in community affairs. He works as a much-needed consensus builder on council with skills honed in a career in public radio leadership. His in-depth historical knowledge of our successes and foibles as a community helps guide the council’s decision-making.

He comes without an agenda but with a record of thoughtful interactions with council and community.

We need his blend of historical knowledge, leadership skills, thoughtful courteous manner, and quiet commitment for doing what is right by all of us.
