Roth has experience on city council | Letter to the editor

To the editor:

I am writing to support Wayne Roth in his campaign for re-election to the Bainbridge Island City Council.

I have worked with Wayne on the Multimodal Transportation Committee (formerly the Nonmotorized Transportation Committee) for four years and have come to respect his thoughtful, considered manner and his openness to multiple points of view. He acts out a commitment to social and racial justice and to environmental stewardship in the careful and thorough way that he researches issues, considering their impact on multiple aspect of island life. I also have experienced in multiple chance meetings his willingness to listen to the concerns people bring to him and to work with them to find solutions.

His experience in managing and overseeing the budget for a large, public organization, radio station KUOW, provides experience that informs his work on the city council. We will have at least two new council members this year whatever happens; there is a learning curve involved in every new position, and I believe that we are better served by having an experienced council member in the mix, as opposed to someone with no experience in local governance on Bainbridge Island.
