To the editor: The idea to transfer ownership of the city of Bainbridge Island’s Winslow water utility, which came up in 2010, initially had a salutary effect. It caused the council and the Utility Advisory Committee to ask the right questions about the utility.
To the editor: The Boys & Girls Club of Bainbridge Island would like to thank all those involved in making our Fourth Annual Faces of the Future Gala at IslandWood a tremendous success!
To the editor: With regards to the recent protests in Winslow and at the city council meeting by the Gary Tripp Goon Squad, I have to urge you all to please save your signs! You’re going to need them elsewhere soon.
To the editor:
In reading the delightful article, and smiling at the enthusiasm in the faces of the children in the photographs, I couldn’t help but step back 41 years when we first came to Bainbridge Island.

Our Washington State Legislature passed a law last year requiring all homeowners to install a carbon monoxide detector because nine people died of carbon monoxide poisoning over the last several years. To the editor: I want to thank you for Richard Oxley’s recent article regarding the Shoreline Management Program (SMP). To the editor: It is time for the restaurants of Bainbridge Island to provide containers in which smokers can dispose of their butts. I walk Winslow every day with my dog and picking up litter and the cigarette butts are out of control.
To the editor: All Islanders should be aware of an alert issued by our local Center for Disease Control concerning a potentially virulent malignancy, symptoms of which have recently been found here on the Island.
To the editor: I hope all Islanders, no matter how far from the shoreline we live, will join me in letting our city council know how concerned we are about the excessive severity of the proposed new Shoreline Management Plan as it now stands.
To the editor: One of the basic Shoreline Property Owners complaints about the Shoreline Management Plan (SMP) update process on Bainbridge Island is a claim of underrepresentation of shoreline property owners in the various stakeholders and community members workgroups formed to inform and recommend shoreline management policy.
