Our voices can make a great difference | Letter to the editor

To the editor:

James Taught is right, we should “not surrender” to the current forces helping only the rich, but work effectively for progressive values. (‘Mobilizing progressive resistance’ by James A. Haught, The Bainbridge Review, April 23).

RESULTS (results.org) has been successfully working on a bipartisan basis for improvements like making the Earned Income Tax Credit permanent. Since that happened, volunteers are now working to extend it so young childless working adults are not taxed into poverty.

The successful methods used by RESULTS for the last 37 years are worth taking a look at. Working with our representatives and senators, we offer sensible options that make a difference. They listen.

Our voices make a great difference when we use them constructively.
