Deets works to find solutions | Letter to the editor

To the editor:

I endorse Joe Deets for city council, North Ward.

I support Joe because he possesses the beliefs and the skills I feel are very important to the role. Joe is an environmentalist who facilitated the installation of solar panels on the city hall roof. This was done entirely with money invested by 23 Bainbridge families. No city money was used. This project generates profits for the city and has been an excellent investment for the participants.

And Joe understands finance. This solar panel project is one example of Joe utilizing his financial acumen, developed while working in finance in Hong Kong during the government transition. Joe will bring these financial skills to the city council.

Joe has earned my support through his service to the city. He has served on the Ethics Board and recently has been the chairman of that board. In this position he has gained insights into the operations of the city and of the challenges faced by city council members. He was able to hear conflicting sides of issues and work to a solution.

Joe has integrity, concern for our environment, financial skills, a balanced and ethical approach to problem-solving, and a deep love for our community.

For these reasons, I endorse Joe Deets.
