City council needs environmental advocates | Letter to the editor

To the editor:

We have three proven environmental advocates running for council this year – Ted Jones, Joe Deets and Rasham Nassar.

They didn’t just start talking recently about protecting open space and farms, becoming more energy efficient or rethinking our transportation options to limit traffic and promote biking and walkability. Their lives are living proof of a deep respect for preserving the best of our community and employing innovative solutions to planning, resources protection and creating a future that is sustainable.

The solutions to our biggest challenges are complicated. They require more than lining up with what is currently popular in sound bite rhetoric during election time.

The endorsements of Ted, Joe and Rasham from Climate Action Bainbridge and many of our citizens most active in protecting our environment are due to their proven commitment to safeguarding what we value most about our island. We need them on council.
