Calendar sales set a record | Letter to the editor

To the editor:

The Island School sends a huge thanks and a big warm hug to everyone who purchased an Ometepe calendar to support our sister island in Nicaragua through Bainbridge Ometepe Sister Islands Association.

This year our student artists sold out of calendars they had created and raised $10,000 in calendar sales and an additional $2,570.16 in donations. The most successful calendar fundraising for BOSIA in our three years of experience is due to the overwhelming enthusiasm of our passionate sales force of students and families, along with the caring support of so many merchants in and around our community who supported our efforts by providing great locations for selling.

We send heartfelt thanks to Ace Hardware, Bay Hay & Feed, Blackbird Bakery, Eagle Harbor Book Co., Safeway and Town & Country for allowing us to sell calendars at their locations.

Please know that everyone who purchased a calendar, donated funds or supported our sales will change lives for the better on Ometepe by providing such needed resources as library books, education, hearing devices, transportation for medical emergencies and so many others. WE ARE VERY GRATEFUL!
