Stone Axe debuts with a new release of classic rock, on vinyl
March 20, 2009 · Updated 10:05 AM
Port Orchard ax men Tony Reed (of Mos Generator) and Dru Brinkerhoff (of the Swinos) combine forces in new project.
It’s been a few months since we’ve heard anything from either of the Port Orchard bands Mos Generator and The Swinos. Which is sad for some, borderline devastating for those craving the old-school, fist-pumping, hi-octane music with sideburns.
But here comes a possible antidote, in the form of a sonic Stone Axe.
The (relatively) new Port Orchard-based band was built around a collaboration between Mos Generator frontman Tony Reed and Swinos’ lead singer Dru Brinkerhoff mixed with heavy 60s/70s rock influence from bands like Free, Cream, Thin Lizzy and more.
Stone Axe released its self-titled debut full-length last week at Winterland. It’s available online as well as at shows, in CD as well as, fittingly, the old-school colored vinyl.

STONE AXE will jam with Madmartigan, Virgin and The Madcap Laughs at 7 p.m. Friday at the Artists For Freedom and Unity Hall, 318 Callow Ave. in Bremerton. All Ages, $5. Info: myspace.com/artfreeunity
