Masterpieces on tap for 2014 garden tour
Visitors to the 2014 Bainbridge in Bloom garden tour will have more time than ever to enjoy this year’s gardens.
The tour will have extended hours this year, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Friday, July 11 and Saturday, July 12.
The highly anticipated event will feature exquisite gardens and live music throughout the tour, according to the Bainbridge Island Arts & Humanities Council, and visitors may journey to the gardens by bike and car, or ride a bus arranged through Agate Pass Transportation on Saturday.
Organizers of the 26th edition of the tour said the gardens chosen for this year’s Bainbridge in Bloom express the creative arts, as well as the individual owners and the beauty they plant, tend and care for throughout the seasons.
The highlight of this year’s tour is the studio and gardens of renowned landscape painter Gayle Bard. Designed with an artist’s point of view, the Living Canvas Garden illustrates composition, color, texture and tone.
Tickets for Bainbridge in Bloom are available on the Arts & Humanities Council website and offices in Winslow, as well as at Bainbridge Gardens and Bay Hay & Feed.
Tickets for Preview Day on Friday, July 11 are $60. General admission on Saturday is $30, and Bike the Bloom tickets are $25.
Preview Day is a quieter opportunity to take the self-paced tour of the gardens. Preview Day tickets are good for both Friday and Saturday admission. Bike the Bloom tickets are also good for both days.
Bus tickets for the tour on Saturday are $20; contact Agate Pass Transportation in advance at 877-981-2022 or pay on the bus.
The Bloom Patron’s Tour (Friday, July 11) features a chauffeur-guided bus tour, the insights of renowned botanist Andy Navage, and a gourmet lunch at Restaurant Marche. Tickets are $230.
