Bainbridge Island Museum of Art celebrates its first anniversary this week. Here's a few interesting factoids about the island's art museum.

BIMA has approximately 150 artworks in their permanent collection? There are 30 to 40 pieces on display at any given time. “What surprised us was that visitors commented they missed seeing certain pieces, so we want to put in new art plus rotate at all times,” said BIMA spokeswoman Renate Raymond.

The museum opened its doors debt free? BIMA raised $17.5 million, including a gift endowment from Debbi and Paul Brainerd to cover all costs and build a small cash reserve, prior to opening. “We are currently on track to meet our first year budget numbers, including having a successful auction and asking Founding Members to renew their support for this year and beyond,” Raymond said.

BIMA Bistro sources their products from local restaurants and farms? “Several restaurants have indicated they have seen an increase in dining guests, especially when we host our member preview parties and other events,” Raymond said. “The BIMA Bistro sources from local businesses for everything from beverages to eggs, meats and cheeses.”
