What's your story?

Here's your chance to tell it to the world.

Are you a secret Shakespeare? Are you a weekend [Tennessee] Williams?

Then submit your play for consideration for the 2014 Island Theatre Ten-Minute Play Festival.

Island Theatre invites Kitsap County playwrights – both established and aspiring – to submit original plays, no more than 10 minutes in length for this year's festival, set to take place Aug. 23-24 at Bainbridge Performing Arts.

The deadline for entries is May 1.

A total of 14 plays, as selected by a panel of judges, will be produced at Bainbridge Performing Arts. The two top plays will receive cash prizes. Specific guidelines and more information can be found on the Island Theatre website,, or by phoning 206-842-3502.

Need a little help getting started?

Island Theatre is hosting a free kick-off party from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  Monday, Feb. 24 at the Bainbridge Public Library (1270 Madison Ave. N). A panel of past winners will be on hand to offer some tips and Island Theatre board members will answer questions about the submission process.

Founded on Bainbridge Island in 1995, Island Theatre's mission is to provide quality entertainment, geared toward mature audiences, onstage as well as in less conventional venues - producing shows that push the intellectual envelope and challenge the artistic capacities of both performers and audiences.
