Eagle Harbor Book Co. is celebrating the release of The Island School Librarian George Shannon’s latest book, "A Very Witchy Spelling Bee," while supporting The Island School itself at a book launch and book fair this week.

The Winslow bookstore will donate 20 percent of all store sales between 5 and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 to The Island School.

Organizers of the event said there will be wordplay galore in the store as special guests lead games of Shrunken Spelling and How Punctuation Can Save a Life and more. Customers can shop ahead for the holidays. Any book pre-ordered and paid that night will also be counted toward the evening’s total.

Shannon is the author of 35 children's books. He received the Island Treasure Award from the Bainbridge Island Arts & Humanities Council in 2012.

The Island School, nestled in the woods off Day Road, has offered a safe, supportive learning environment for children and their families since 1977. Their mission is to educate children in kindergarten through fifth grade and inspire in them a lifelong enthusiasm for learning and an appreciation and respect for themselves and others.
