Field's End plans April seminar

Registration has started for the Field's End seminar, "The Publishing Revolution: Ride the Wave!"
The program will be led by Jason Allen Ashlock, co-founder and president of Movable Type Management, and takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 27 at IslandWood.
Ashlock oversees the development of new books and digital properties by the company's more than 200 authors and global media clients and leads the firm's partnerships with an array of digital developers and marketing specialists. He also teaches digital publishing at the City University of New York - City College.
The seminar starts with an introduction to the fundamentals of the publishing revolution and a map of the new digital terrain. Writers will get hands-on time with new publishing and marketing technology, and also consider an array of best practices supported by case studies.
Seminar attendees will learn how the artisanal act of independent publishing can be a vital part of the craft of writing, and also explore the ongoing changes in the industry. Attendees will learn how to think like a publisher, and manage the basic economics of self-publishing.
The seminar will also share insights on how to build a plan for editing, designing and producing, plus ways to effectively market the end result.
The course is limited to 75 attendees. The cost is $160, and includes a gourmet lunch and a wine-and-cheese reception.
