Metalwork, landscapes and more come to BAC in January
Bainbridge Arts and Crafts presents an exhibition by Christopher Mathie, Larry McCaffrey and Kay Walsh in January.
Mathie’s landscapes balance on a point between reality and abstraction. To get to that place, the artist balances light and dark, wet and dry paint, and opaque and transparent layers.
McCaffrey turns his expertise in industrial sheet metal to making art.
For many years McCaffrey’s industrial fabrication work demanded high craftsmanship to solve complex three-dimensional problems. His current sculpture, whether stainless steel or powder-coated mild steel, is elegant and playful.
Walsh began photography with a Brownie camera.
She has grown from Kodachrome vacation photos to Photoshop landscape photography. A world traveler, Walsh loves her corner of the world best. She looks through her camera at wheat fields or rainforest, country roads or wild oceans and finds hidden treasures.
A free artist demo is planned for 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4.
Gallery visitors will see Mathie’s dramatic process, as he covers and reveals layers of paint, discovering his work while he creates it.
The show runs from Jan. 4 through Jan. 30.
