Trio to perform at fundraising concert
Flutist Jessie Polin will headline “Music of the Americas,” a benefit concert for Island Music Center.
The performance is 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 at Island Music Center and will feature works by Barber, Foss, Muczynski, Villa-lobos and Piazzolla.
Polin is a faculty member at Island Music Center, and she will be joined by Megan McElroy on piano and Natalie Hall on cello.
The suggested donation is $15.
Polin earned a bachelor’s degree of music in flute performance from Arizona State University and a master’s of music from the University of Washington. She performed with the symphony orchestras, wind ensembles and contemporary ensembles at both universities.
A 2010 winner of the University of Washington Concerto Competition, Polin was a featured soloist with the university’s symphony twice in 2010. She has also been a guest soloist with the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra, Tacoma Young Artists Orchestra and at the Lake Chelan Bach Festival.
Polin regularly performs with the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra, as well as with the Seattle Modern Orchestra and the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra.
