Concert at Island Center Hall features two top trios
September 29, 2012 · 10:24 AM
Rio Con Brio with Alexhandra Coutinho and Field and Franz with Patrice O’Neill will join together for a collaborative musical evening at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 at Island Center Hall.
Rio Con Brio creates a beautiful fusion of Brazilian rhythm, classical technique and jazz improvisation, with virtuosity abounding by Tim Connell on mandolin and Mike Burdette on guitar.
At this week’s concert, the pair will be joined by Alexhandra Coutinho, one of the Northwest’s premier singers of the Portuguese music known as Fado.
Also on the bill: Field and Franz. Melding the rich tonal beauty of classical guitar, viola, violin and voice, Hilary Field and Gwen Franz — with Patrice O’Neill (Uncle Bonsai) — will offer an evocative palette of music that spans from the elegance of Baroque sonatas to the exciting rhythms of South American sambas and choros.
Tickets are $12 in advance, or $15 at the door. Admission is $10 for students. Advance tickets are available at Winslow Drug or by calling the park district office at 206-842-2306, ext. 118.
The show is sponsored by the Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District.
