Bainbridge Performing Arts will hold auditions for the children’s chorus in director Lisa Mandelkorn’s new English translation of “Hänsel and Gretel” from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21.

The children’s chorus has roles for ages 8 and up.

“Hänsel and Gretel,” Engelbert Humperdinck’s wildly popular fairy tale opera, is based on the classic Brothers’ Grimm folk tale. BPA’s production is conducted by Kim Allen Kluge and includes musical direction by Victoria Whitlow.

Those auditioning are requested to prepare 32 bars of music (any style) to be sung either a cappella or with an accompanist. An accompanist will be provided, but those auditioning must bring sheet music or a music-only accompaniment CD. All participants are requested to bring a headshot or a current picture to the audition.

Interested actors can contact BPA production manager Deirdre Hadlock for an appointment at dhadlock@bainbridgeperformingarts.org or call 206-842-4560.

The production takes the stage Dec. 7-9, Dec. 14-16, and Dec. 21-23.
