Downtown Winslow will receive a new and tasty addition as Restaurant Marché opens its doors this weekend.

Local couple Greg and Betsy Atkinson decided to open the restaurant last April and have been planning for it ever since. It will feature foods from local farmers that Greg has developed a relationship with over the 18 years the couple has lived on the island. As Betsy puts it, “It will be local ingredients with french techniques.”

“We’re just excited, we are really pleased with our staff,” Betsy said. “We are already sold out for Saturday.”

Saturday, March 17 is the bistro’s “soft opening” and while Atkinson said they are already booked up, they can still seat people at the bar.

Chef Greg Atkinson has carved a niche for himself in the Northwest area. He was executive chef at Canlis and an instructor at the Culinary Academy in Seattle. He has also authored six cookbooks and has a regular radio spot on 94.9 FM KUOW.

The contemporary bistro will be open for lunch and dinner on Saturday for its soft opening, and then from Tuesday through Saturday afterward.
