Bainbridge Schools Foundation launches 'Save Our Teachers' campaign
May 26, 2009 · Updated 12:36 PM
With up to 17 Bainbridge teachers facing elimination this year, Bainbridge Schools Foundation is hoping families will step up where the state fell short.
Seventeen teachers and two administrators have received reduction-in-force notices this month, as the school district braces for up to $2.2 million in budget cuts. A number of those staff members may be recalled as the budget is finalized.
Families with children in public schools will be receiving mailers, email and phone calls from principals.
Informational meetings will also be held in each school. Bainbridge High School had its meeting this week. A Wilkes Elementary meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m., May 22. Blakely and Ordway elementary schools will have meetings next week.
BSF estimates that if a $100 donation was made for each student, it would pay for the recall of 5.5 teachers.
