Bainbridge school district welcomes math-teaching expert

The Bainbridge Island School District is hosting nationally known math author and teacher trainer Greg Tang this week.

Tang, who has a master's degree in economics from Harvard and a master's in math education from New York University, is the author of "The Grapes of Math," "Math-terpieces," "Math Potatoes" and other books that connect kids with mathematics.

Tang — who is also certified as a high school and middle school math teacher — will work with Bainbridge teachers during their early release training time on Monday, and speak at two student assemblies at Captain Charles Wilkes Elementary on Tuesday morning.

He will also lead a special session for parents tonight at Bainbridge High.

"Making Math Engaging for Your Children" will be presented by Tang from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 17 in the BHS commons.
