Laura Kastner will be the guest speaker at a special lecture next week on communication with tweens and teens.

A clinical psychologist, therapist, researcher, lecturer, and author of numerous books, including “Wise Minded Parenting: 7 Essentials for Raising Successful Tweens” and Teens” and “Getting to Calm,” Kastner will speak on effective communication with tweens and teens and review the seven essentials for raising successful children of that age at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6 in the Bainbridge High School commons.

Kastner is currently a clinical professor in both the psychology department and the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the University of Washington.

All are invited to attend, especially parents with children of any age, grandparents, educators, teens, and adults in the community who have an interest in the positive development of youth.

There is a suggested donation of $10 at the door. Those interested in attending should register at www.raisingresilience.org. The evening is sponsored by Bainbridge Island Youth Services and Raising Resilience and is underwritten with a grant from the Bainbridge Community Foundation.

Kastner will sign copies of her books after the presentation.
