The public is invited to a free dinner and showing of the movie "A Place at the Table" on Thursday, Jan. 23, at Bethany Lutheran Church of Bainbridge Island.

The film stars Jeff Bridges and explores the powerful stories of three people who are among the 50 million in American who don't know where their next meal is coming from. One in five children in America goes hungry.

"If another nation was doing this to our children, we'd be at war," Bridges said.

A meal of beans, rice and tortillas will be offered at 6 p.m. The film starts at 7 p.m. A discussion with local leaders about the issues raised in the movie will start at 8:30 p.m.

No reservations are necessary. For more information, call 206-842-4241.

Bethany Lutheran Church is at 7968 Finch Road.
