Deadline looms for Bainbridge writing contest

The Bainbridge Student Writing Contest is back for its fifth year, and entries are now being accepted for the annual competition.

The contest is open to all local students in first through 12th grade. This year’s theme is “Creatures, Monsters and Beasts.”

Entry forms are available at Eagle Harbor Book Co., and the deadline to enter is Sept. 13.

Finalists will be announced at Eagle Harbor Books at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. The event will be hosted by local author Suzanne Selfors. Selfors will be joined by three guest judges, each an award-winning author of children’s books: Kevin Emerson, Martha Brockenbrough and George Shannon.

Everyone who enters will receive a certificate of achievement. Eight finalists will each receive a $50 gift certificate to Eagle Harbor Books.
