Turkey Trot is one more way to donate to the Helpline House
The holidays are fast approaching, and Helpline House can always use more donations to feed the island community.
The Third Annual Turkey Trot will offer Bainbridge an opportunity to get in a morning workout before Thanksgiving, as well as a chance to contribute to one of the island's most pertinent causes.
The trot includes a 1-mile run, as well as a 5-kilometer run around Battle Point Park. The runs are family friendly.
Approximately 800 people ran in last year's Turkey Trot, raising $15,000 for the Helpline House, doubling the amount raised for its first year.
Prizes will be awarded at the runs, such as Blackbird Bakery pies, running shoes donated by Poulsbo Running, Indigo Plum Footwear and Apparel gift cards, and more. Runners in costume will also get prizes.
Those who register before Nov. 20 can sign up for the 1-mile run for $10, and the 5-kilometer run for $20. Registration will also be available at the event for $15 for the 1-mile run, and $30 for the 5-kilometer run.
Islanders can register at Island Fitness, or online at www.bainbridgeturkeytrot.org.
