Good vibes at New Year’s Eve dance

A year after launching its first dance party, Island Vibes is amping up for its second annual New Year’s Eve event, 7 p.m. Dec. 31 to 2 a.m. Jan. 1 at the Filipino Hall, 7566 NE High School Rd.

“Shangri-la” is a fictional place of magic and mystery and Island Vibes’ Shangri-la happening will evoke a magical mood.

Kid Hops from KEXP 90.3fm and Teeth of Turquoise will play live. The Island Vibes DJs, Sean Maestro, Heather Isabella, Caitlin Matteson, Carlos da Silva and special guests will spin the groove.

Prizes will be awarded for most creative, extravagant costumes in keeping with the Shangri-la theme.

Artisan ales, spirits, sake and food by Shima Japanese Sushi House will be available. A free champagne toast is included in the $20 admission fee. Presale tickets, $15, are available at Shima Japanese Sushi House or online at http://islandvibes.eventbrite.com.
