BAC Goes Botanical: Plants offer rich possibilities to artists, a range of beautiful structures and colors, and an endless source of ideas and metaphors. Grand Old Fourth: The 41st annual Grand Old Fourth of July celebrates a tribute to the Fabulous Fifties. The day’s activities will include its centerpiece, “the Zaniest Small Town Parade in America.” New attractions this year include the Bohemian Village in Winslow Green, featuring a juried art fair with local artists and the post-parade Teen Take Over street dance and concert on Winslow Way, showcasing local favorite high school bands Army Corp of Architects and Lumberjack. Bluegrass Festival and Family Fun Fair: The island’s all-day bluegrass music celebration and family fun fair is fast becoming a summer tradition. Thoroughly Modern Millie: BPA Theatre School’s Camp Broadway collaborates with Bainbridge Dance Center in summer 2008 to stage the hit Broadway show “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” which runs July 30-Aug. 3 at Bainbridge Performing Arts, with shows at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. The story centers on young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to the city in search of a new life for herself.
