McMaken opens new law office

Attorney Lynda McMaken has opened a new office in the San Juan Building at 900 Winslow Way.

McMaken’s primary areas of practice include divorce, business law and estate planning.

In what is termed as “cordial” divorce law, McMaken works with couples to help them come to mutually acceptable, non-contested separation or divorce.

Suquamish to address chamber

Executive members of the Suquamish Tribe will be the key speaker during the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce’s luncheon on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at Wing Point Golf & Country Club.

Russell Steele, CEO of Clearwater Casino, and Leonard Forsman, chair of the Suquamish Tribe, will discuss some new developments being planned or currently under way on tribal lands.

BAC installs defibrillator

The Bainbridge Athletic Club has purchased a new automatic eternal defibrillator (AED) for use at the club.

The machine stimulates a heart back to proper function when a coronary crisis occurs; CPR may serve as a bridge to the use of an AED.

The club was guided in its research by the Bainbridge Island Fire Department, which supports placing AEDs in public places such as athletic clubs, large office campuses and similar locations. Dr. Greg Keyes is BAC’s medical advisor.

Financial firm moves branch

Edward Jones, a financial services firm located at 435 Erickson Ave., is moving to a new office at 325 Tormey Lane, Suite 144, off Hildebrand Lane. The new office will be open for business on Feb. 17.

AMB honors housing lender

Lorry Gilbreath has been named American Marine Bank’s “residential lending top producer” for 2008.

Gilbreath, who has more than 14 years of bank lending experience and joined AMB in 2007, closed more that $16 million in loans last year despite current economic conditions.

The production made her No. 1 among her peers at the Bainbridge lsland-based bank.

The Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking merchant participation for a Buy Local Coupon Book that will be distributed this spring.

Nonprofits and organizations supporting kids will sell and distribute books For every book sold, distributors keep $5 to support local causes.
