Bainbridge solar project wins award

A&R Solar, a Seattle-based solar installer and a SunPower authorized dealer, has received the company’s “Intelegant Award for Excellence” for a residential solar photovoltaic project commissioned in 2012 on Bainbridge Island.

The company won the national award for its installation of a 11.76-kilowatt solar power system at Romerkoff Farms.

SunPower dealers are selected to receive the “Intelegant Award for Excellence” for projects that demonstrate the highest quality of design and installation, as well as system owner satisfaction, according to SunPower officials.

The location for the array was a new barn and carport constructed in an old timber-style and covered with an architectural corrugated roof.

A&R Solar mounted 12 kW of modules on the roof. In addition, the clean blue solar cells from Sunpower provided a brilliant contrast with the red rust of the roof.

The project was chosen over hundreds of other nationwide submissions to be Sunpower’s 2012 Residential Intelegant Award Winner.

“Our goal was to get the maximum amount of solar power that is feasible and support efforts to reduce national reliance on petroleum and nuclear energy power sources. Both Schuchart Dow, A&R as well as Steve Romein (my husband who designed the building) created a beautiful structure. Thank you so much!” said Ty Cramer, co-owner of Romerkoff Farms.

“A&R Solar is honored to receive the 2012 ‘Intelegant Award for Excellence’ from SunPower acknowledging our success with this,” said Reeves Clippard, CEO of A&R Solar.

“Partnering with SunPower, a global solar leader offering the world’s most reliable and efficient solar panels, allows us to offer our customers the best technology as well as superior customer service and workmanship,” he said.

“We congratulate A&R Solar on the design and construction of this noteworthy installation,” said Howard Wenger, SunPower president, regions. “A&R Solar has demonstrated a level of quality and commitment to excellence worthy of this prestigious award, and we look forward to their continued success as a SunPower authorized dealer in 2013.”

SunPower Corp. was founded in 2007 as an employee-owned venture in Seattle and designs, manufactures and delivers solar panels and systems.

A&R Solar will be back on Bainbridge Island for the NW Green Homes Tour at the Grow Community on April 27.
