Nonprofits offer 2010 calendars | Business Briefing | Nov. 27

Several island organizations are selling 2010 calendars as a fundraising effort. Arms Around Bainbridge, West Sound Wildlife Shelter and Blakely Elementary School all have calendars for sale.

Arms Around Bainbridge, the folks who swim around the island during the summer, are donating this year’s proceeds to Katsuko Kimura, mother of two who was diagnosed with stomach cancer earlier this year.

Island resident and photographer Pete Saloutos has created full-color, wire-bound calendars featuring 12 scenic photos for the cause. Cost is $20, and all proceeds go to Kimura.

They are available at several locations on the island; for more information, visit www.armsaroundbainbridge.com.

“Bainbridge Island Community Calendar” was created to support Blakely Elementary School’s outdoor education program. The calendar features digital watercolor images of the island taken by John and Karin Lehotsky and the monthly grids list Bainbridge community events throughout the year.

“Want to know when the Zucchini Race is? When the Harvest Fair happens in 2010? Buy the calendar,” Karin said. “It’s a great resource.”

The calendar, which sells for $12, is available at Blakely School, 4704 Blakely Ave., and Lollipops Children Boutique, 278 Winslow Way.

West Sound Wildlife Center has compiled photos of 12 of its friends: eagles, owls, a tiny squirrel, to create its 2010 calendar. The $10 calendar is available at Town & Country Market, or at the shelter at 7501 Dolphin Dr. It also can be ordered online or by calling 855-9057, ext. 5.
