The owner of Eagle Harbor Book Company announced Wednesday that he is welcoming aboard two partners into the iconic Winslow business.

Morley Horder, who has been the sole owner of the business for the past 15 years, said current bookstore manager Tim Hunter and Rene’ Kirkpatrick, a well-known Pacific Northwest bookseller, have become partners in the business.

"Tim and Rene’ will be the managing partners, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the store. I will remain active on the business side and as an advisor to Tim and Rene’," Horder said in the announcement.

Horder said the pair are passionately committed to independent book stores and have nearly 40 combined years in the bookselling business.

"They understand the role of technology in the ever evolving retail world, but they strongly believe that the heart of our business is the one-on-one personal relationship we have with our customers, with the goal of putting the right book in each customer’s hands," Horder said.

Hunter has been Eagle Harbor Book Company’s manager for nearly a year.

"He has clearly demonstrated he understands people, cares deeply about the welfare of employees, expresses a keen understanding of the needs of customers today, has a strong understanding of and facility with technologies of all kinds, and has a brilliant business mind," Horder said.

"In the 15 years I’ve known Rene’, she stands out as one of the most knowledgeable and passionate booksellers I have ever known," he added. "She is a true hands-on leader, as well as a dedicated bookseller."

Eagle Harbor Book Company has been in business for 42 years, and Horder said that with the passion, knowledge and leadership that his new partners will bring to the business, the book store will continue as a vital part of the Bainbridge community well into the future.
