Sustainability lecture is tonight
The Bainbridge Lecture Series welcomes Adam Siegel as the guest speaker for BASE — “Building A Sustainable Economy” at 5:30 Friday, May 11 in the auditorium at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art.
Siegel is the vice president of sustainability and retail operations at the Retail Industry Leader’s Association.
RILA recently published an industry-wide sustainability report which discusses retail's environmental, social, and community impacts. Data was collected from the most recent sustainability reports of 30 RILA retail member companies, which are representative of the industry's diversity, from food to general merchandise to specialty stores, and from large to small format.
Siegel will focus on the trends and practices local Bainbridge businesses can draw from this study.
An engineer with an master's of business administration from MIT Sloan School of Management, Siegel has consulted for numerous companies including Staples, IBM and Seventh Generation, as well as for leaders in the transportation and energy sectors. He has experience with the Environmental Defense Fund's Corporate Partnerships Program, where he worked with the private equity firm KKR and their portfolio companies.
Siegel leads RILA's sustainability offerings, directing both RILA's Retail Sustainability Initiative and the Environmental Sustainability and Compliance Conference, while also leading a number of other operational activities for the association.
The event is hosted by the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce, Bainbridge Graduate Institute, Sustainable Bainbridge and the Bainbridge Public Library, and will be held at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art Auditorium.
