The Bainbridge Athletic Club will hold a grand opening event for the public this Sunday, Oct. 17, for the completion of a new multipurpose gymnasium.

The event, scheduled from 1-4 p.m. at 11700 NE Meadowmeer Circle for BAC members and non-members, will feature a dodgeball competition between members of the Bainbridge police and fire departments – Guns 'n Hoses: Ultimate Dodgeball Faceoff.

The new 7,000-foot indoor gym replaces one of the two tennis courts that were built last year by BAC. The space includes a college-sized basketball court that can be used for a variety of activities, ranging from basketball and youth soccer to dodgeball and badminton.

Co-owner Ted Eisenhardt said the gym will be used primarily by members, but there will be some non-member activities offered as well.

Eisenhardt said Sunday's event will include family fitness, face painting and other activities.

All proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the island's Boys and Girls Club.
